As an active math teacher in Carson City school district, Dawn wants to see that Lyon County students succeed. When one of the students disrupts a class, it delays progress for everyone.
Teachers can send a disruptive student to the principal, but often they return to class without any resolution, or jump to another class where negative behavior continues.
This hurts classroom safety and quality of education. The student even becomes disadvantaged through a lack of learning over time.
Dawn aspires to give teachers a voice on the school board to solve these issues effectively, improve quality of education, and enhance safety for our students and teachers.

✅ Enhance Classroom Safety: Address ongoing discipline issues by ensuring an effective resolution process that includes student accountability and a voice for the teacher. 🚸
✅ Empower Teachers: Solve the distraction caused with cell phones in the classroom📱by giving teachers authority to manage this issue directly. (Will help to improve test scores.)
✅ Support Parents: Strengthen communication and involvement by giving parents a meaningful opportunity to comment in more detail at school board meetings. This will also help address problems and improve quality of education.
✅ Support Quality Education: We need to get back to quality basic education – helping our students to grow and learn so they can be productive adults when they graduate. Adding trade school classes in our high schools could especially help students who do not plan to attend college.
